It's a Girl!!!!

We had our ultrasound today and found out we are having a girl!! When we told Lila she was going to have a baby sister, she said "I want a baby sister!". So, we're off to a good start at least.

Splish Splash

Lila and I have been spending a lot of time at the local sprinkler park in an attempt to beat the heat. It's a great place for younger kids because, unlike a regular pool, parents can sit and watch, at least some of the time.

Lila hasn't gotten brave enough to run through the sprinklers without me yet, but she does like filling her bucket and watering can with water and playing around the edges.

Eating a PB&J. Momoo's strawberry jelly...YUM.

Outdoor Fun

Last night it was finally not pouring down rain or unbelievably hot and humid, so Chris set up Lila's sand and water table and we all enjoyed the pleasant evening.

She didn't care much for the sand or the toys on the table, but she did like pouring water back and forth between the cups.

Chris's 30th Birthday

Chris's 30th Birthday was Thursday, so on Friday we went to the Cubs game with Tim and Molly to celebrate and then we met up with some friends at a bar in Wrigleyville after the game. We had great seats at the game and a FANTASTIC table reserved for us at the bar. Chris had a great birthday party and everyone had a good time.

It was cold in our seats because they were in the shade so I wore Chris's W flag as a blanket.

Enough Already!

Chris has been out of town since Monday and it has also been raining since Monday. The kids and I are running out of patience and indoor activities.

Ian was supposed to have his Field Day at school today, but I'm sure it will be moved inside to the gym. Not nearly as fun.

Poor Lila has been asking to go to the park all week, but it hasn't stopped raining long enough for us to go. When I got her up this morning, I opened the curtains and she said, "Oh. It's raining. But I wanted to go down the slide!" Since then, she's been walking around the house saying, "I want to go down the sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide."

The rain has to stop soon, right?

5th Grade Musical

Last night all of the 5th graders at Ian's school put on a musical called "The American Dream" which was about historical figures in America. Ian played the explorerer Ferdinand Magellan.

Ian had one line--"Ferdinand Magellan!" and he turned around as soon as he said his line, so even though I was ready, by the time the camera took the picture all I got was his back. So, the only picture I have during the play is this blurry group shot. All of the kids did a great job!

After the play, the kids had a Living Museum in the library where they displayed the exhibits they had made of their person.

These two guys (who I think were somebody's grandfathers) went around asking all of the kids about their projects. They spent a lot of time talking to Ian!
