A Small Brag

I know most of you only read this blog to see pictures of the kids, but I ran my first ever 10K this morning and finished in 59:08 which is way better than I expected to do. That breaks down to about a 9:31 mile so I guess my training paid off!

Chris and the kids came to watch me finish which was really great! I'm yelling at Lila in this picture because she didn't see me. After that I smiled and waved, but we don't have a picture of that.

As a side note, I ran the Race for the Cure this morning and it is such an inspiring event! It was just a race to me, but it is so amazing to see all of the survivors participating in the race and those who've been personally affected by breast cancer. Definitely something I'll do again next year!

Our Little Plumber?

Cara discovered the cubby underneath the sink in the play kitchen last night. She had lots of fun pulling the oven mitts out and showing them to us and then she'd throw them back in there so she could start the game again.

Ruffle butt is much cuter than plumber crack!

We've Been Busy

We just don't have any pictures to show for it! Last week Ian had an Outdoor Education field trip which I'm sure is going to be the highlight of his year. It's an annual 7th grade trip up to a campground in Wisconsin for three days where they get to hike, learn archery, and all sorts of other outdoor activities. He had a BLAST! He drove to Clinton with Chris and Katie on Friday night after getting back and, according to them, talked about his trip for 55 minutes straight.

Lila started dance and gymnastics class again and went to a fun birthday party for one of her friends. And she started Sunday School for the first time which is something she has been eagerly anticipating.

Cara has two teeth! One top and one bottom and two more that should pop through any day.

Last weekend we all went down to Clinton to celebrate my birthday with family and to go to the Illini game. We had a fun breakfast tailgate and watched the Illini win!

This week and weekend should be a little less hectic, but I am running my first 10K on Sunday so I'm trying to mentally gear up for that!

10 months old on the 10th

Cara is 10 months old on the 10th in '10! She started pulling up on furniture this week and has four noticeable bumps on her gums, so I keep expecting her to wake up with four teeth any day now! She crawls all over the house now and loves following me around and she especially loves following Ian and Lila around. She "talks" all the time and doesn't like to be left out of any conversation. She is also turning into our little clown--she loves to make us laugh and be the center of attention.

Lila joining in!
(She started gymnastics today which is why she's in that outfit.)

Football Season!

Illini football started today! Although they lost, the game went much better than I had anticipated so I am still feeling hopeful about this season. Tim came over to watch the game and hang out. And Cara learned that on game days you eat in the living room!

Cara showing off her new Illini shirt!

When Lila woke up on Thursday morning she asked if it was time to watch the "Niwinois Game" so she was excited that today was the day. However, she wanted to wear her Little Mermaid Halloween costume, not her Illinois shirt. The only way I could get her to take off her costume to eat lunch without a fit was by letting her wear her Little Mermaid pajamas instead. And the big news for the day is that Lila put her money where her mouth is and played with Tim non-stop.
