First Day of Middle School

Ian started middle school today. So hard to believe that he is old enough to be in 6th grade already!!

Lila and I walked him to the bus stop this morning and made sure he got on the bus. There were several kids that he knew from elementary school also at our bus stop so I think that helped him feel a little less nervous.

Block Party

I flaked and didn't take any pictures, but we went to our street's block party today. We all had fun hanging out with neighbors that we already knew and getting to know neighbors that we hadn't met yet. Both kids found others their own age to hang out with and enjoyed the bounce house, pinata, games, food and even a visit from local firemen. Lila loved climbing into the fire truck and getting her own fire hat to wear.

Today also marks one year that we have been in our house. We all love living here and fun days like today serve to further remind us what a great decision it was.

Next up, Ian's first day of MIDDLE SCHOOL on Monday!

Twin Day

Jaline and I have been friends since 6th grade. In jr. high and high school we talked on the phone every day, had sleepovers, and did pretty much everything girls do when they are best friends. So, naturally, every year during "Spirit Week" at school we dressed exactly alike for Twin Day.

This is us our freshman year of high school. According to my scrapbook, even our shoes matched.

Now, Jaline and I are pregnant at the same time and due just two weeks apart. In June, she came up here and we went shopping for maternity clothes together and ended up buying the same shirt. Last Friday we had dinner together and while we didn't wear matching shirts out to dinner, we did change after dinner and have Jaline's husband, Brian, take our picture.

Another Funny

After Lila got up from her nap today she started carrying her stuffed bear with her everywhere including to the potty. Bear would have to sit on the potty first and then it would be Lila's turn. She told him, "Big bears go pee pee on the potty" and then told him "good job" when he was done.

We went to Target this afternoon and Lila said that Bear needed to wear underwear to Target too. And then after Target we went to the park for a few minutes. So, I pushed a cart through Target with an underwear wearing stuffed bear and then pushed the same underwear wearing stuffed bear on the swing at the park.

Both Lila and Bear were accident free though so the afternoon was a success.

A Funny

Potty training is going really, really well. Lila has been going pee pee and poopie in the potty and telling us when she has to go. She is still wearing diapers for naps and bedtime, but yesterday she woke up from her nap dry, so we are headed in the right direction there as well.

Today she went to the gym, the post office and the grocery store in underwear and didn't have any accidents! She even told one of the babysitters at the gym that she had to go pee pee and let the babysitter take her.

When we got to the grocery store today...
Lila: I have to go pee pee.
Me: Okay, let's go inside and we'll find the potties.
Lila: Mommy, the potties are in the bathroom!

Baby Sister

We took Lila to the hospital this morning for a Sibling Tour. She seemed to understand what was going on, but she kept telling us that she wanted to see her baby sister today. We had to explain that it would be a few more months. She also kept calling it the "hopsicle", like popsicle only with an "h".

In other news, we have been potty training since Thursday and it is going well. She has had one accident each day, but otherwise has been going pee pee in the potty and even telling us when she has to go without being asked. Last night, she even went out of the house in underwear for a very short time with no accidents!
